Czechia’s capital elects its city assembly alongside the first round of the Czech Senate election, and the main question is who will govern Prague next. The current coalition of SPOLU (ODS-ECR, TOP 09-EPP, KDU-ČSL-EPP), the Pirates (Greens/EFA) and STAN (EPP) is unlikely to continue, as relations within it have soured.
SPOLU is running with a different line-up than in 2022: KDU-ČSL (EPP) has left to run with Praha Sobě and the Greens (Greens/EFA), and the 82-year-old incumbent mayor Bohuslav Svoboda has made way for Tomáš Portlík, mayor of Prague 9, who is the face of a personality-driven campaign. The Pirates (Greens/EFA) are polling lower, while STAN is on an upward trajectory. ANO (PfE) is led by Jan Hušbauer after its original candidate was dropped over a property controversy. Motoristé (PfE) and SPD (ESN) are polling around the 5% threshold.
